Biography

Hi My name is Sean. I am formerly M6SKP which is still my QRP call.

I was licensed as an Intermediate Call from 18-07-2013 (General Class if your US).

As the callsign depicts, i am exBT, BT being British Telecom, one of the largest Telecommunications companies. It was with BT that I started my career in communications professionally. So, it was only fitting to get XBT as my call. Its also a tribute to my late father who devoted over 30 years to BT in its various names (Post Office Telephones, BT etc). He was my inspiration, and I have to this date been a Communications Engineer for the last 28 years myself (correct of 2016).

I currently work for Virginmedia as a Network Engineer and I am in my 23rd year with them. I work on all field and HeadEnd/Exchange equipment.
I work predominately on fibre optic equipment and RF related within the local Network providing maintenance, assistance to Residential Technicians and Digital hierarchy architecture.

I also do a lot of RF work for the company, making sure we are within Ofcom regulation guidelines. It also means I get to have my radio in the works vehicle, a great bonus !!!
