Biography

Hi my name is Ben, I'm 38 years old, I live in Great Britain, in a small village in the East of England, with my Wife Karen (2E0TPK)and our 20 years old Daughter kathryn.

I have always been interested in radios and becoming a user and a friend who lives close by helped me find my way into Amateur Radio.

I passed my (M6) Foundation Exam in Dec 2010 and PASSED my Intermediate Exam (2E0) June 2017. Since then I have really enjoyed the satifaction that comes from contacting new people and now found friends across the country.

The equipment I'm running at home for 2meters and 70cm is IC-9700 with a ZL Special beam antenna for 2meters SSB and HF im useing an Dublet antenna. and 5 element yagi 6 meter SSB on my IC-7300 . I am also running the yaesu FTM-100DE which is my FM/Digital unit in the shack and now getting into APRS aswell. I have recently purchased a 4metre 1000FM Philips rig with a homemade 4metre Dipole antenna for SSB. I also got a BAOFENG 2/70CM HANDY.I have also just purchased FT2D, for C4FM and anlog aswell. also Tait500 series for 70cms for my local Repeater. My moblie radio in car is FTM-400. for 2meters and 70CM and C4FM. IM now up and running on 23cms on my IC-9700 and the Antenna is X-5000. Im also jut purchased TYT DMR Handheld and im running my own Hotspot. I now also have a C4FM Node on 2meters for Wires-X the radio is another FTM-100. And I'm now doing FT8 and FT4.

I'm a member of my local Amateur Radio Club and on the commitee aswell, where I get lots of support and advice from other members.

Becoming an Amateur Radio user has ment a great deal to me and I hope to pass my m0, Full lisence early in 2023.

Anyway that's me so 73's for now and cya on the bands!!!.
