Biography

Thanks for looking up QRZ page. I am located in Sutton, South London (Locator: IO91VI, WAB: TQ26).

After a rekindled interest in shortwave radio and participating as a SWL (MA3212SWL), I took advantage of lockdown to study for my UK Foundation license. Thanks to the RSGB online exam scheme I passed my exam and obtained my callsign (M7AUW) in July 2020.

Upgraded to UK Intermediate license in December 2020. Obtained new callsign 2E0GKW

Update July-2021: Finally got an HF rig and starting to explore the new bands and modes available to me. Currently limited to indoor antennas, definitely too low with too small a ground plane, but at least I'm on the air.

Mostly operating on 6m and 2m (and ocassionally 70cm) in FM, SSB and FT8. Joined "807 ARO" contest group to participate in some of the RSGB UKAC contests. Not troubling the scorers too much at the moment but it's all good experience and learning for propagation, antenna's etc.

Sometime also operate from family home in NW England (QTH:IO83OG, WAB:SJ47) where I lurk on Hubnet via a couple of local 70cm repeaters and try to catch some of the SOTA activations from Snowdonia and other North Wales summits.

Logs regularly uploaded to LOTW, QRZ.com, HRDLog & Clublog. QSL via eQSL also welcome.

SWL reports welcomed - I'm interested to see how far I am getting out while I experiment with this initial compromise set-up. I still submit SWL reports for bands/modes I can't currently transmit on and have always been grateful to receive replies for them so will reply to any SWL reports I receive.
