Biography

Hi, I am John S. Pritchett. I was born and raised on the Islands of Bermuda. I have been interested in radio for many years. I was introduced to ham radio by Steve Lynam, VP9BU. We worked together at The Sunshine Company when I was 15. He invited me to his house one Saturday and we spent a couple of hours in his shack. I was fascinated and joined the local radio club though I remained a listener. This was when I made friends with Jim Sayer, VP9BY. We stayed close till I left the island in 1981.
Recently the desire to become a ham returned and I took the test for Technician a few months back. Three months went by and then I passed the General Class exam and am enjoying participating in activities with the local club in Crossville, TN. where I now live. The Club "CPARC" is loaded with friendly 'hams' who have made me welcome since my first meeting. Having fun listening around and still trying to improve my morse reception. Over thirty years ago VP9JR spent the time to teach me the code and coached me till I passed the test at 10 words a minute, so I know I can do it. Must practice more.
