Biography

I have been an amateur since January 2011. My first licence was a Basic+ which allowed me to operate on all bands with limited power. On March 17, 2015 I passed my advanced ticket and now can operate with full legal power.

My station comprises of a Kenwood TS570S; Kenwood TM-V71A, Yaseu FT100D, Kenwood TM241A with a MFJ TNC 1274 for packet operations. Antenna tuning is accomplished with a LDG AT-600 Pro, a SignaLink Mod. SL-1+. Additional output power is achieved with a Heathkit SB-200 (fully rebuilt) and a Mirage B108. I operate a mobile station using a Yaesu 857 with a homemade screwdriver antenna (Don Johnson version).

Antennas consist of : Hygain TH5 Tri Bander; Antron 99 vert.;160 meter inverted L; 40,80,160 trapped dipole at 40ft; a 440-146 Ringo at 45 ft; 13 element beam vertical with 440 and 146 and underneath that is a 13 element horizontal 2M beam and underneath that a 5 element 6 Meter beam (homebrew).

I use HRD with HDSDR panadapter feeding a 21 and a 17 lcd monitors. For contests I use AC Logger.

I enjoy building ham antennas, gear and taking part in DXContests and general rag chewing on with DX and local stations. I am also part of a local ECom group in the Kingston area.

added new call in the summer of 2018 VA3WW for contest mainly you may see it on ft8 alot as well
