Biography

Hello all.

Thanks for visiting. I have been a ham since 1979 and now have a chance to enjoy the hobby after raising kids and whatnot. I have been a Heathkit SB series enthusiast and have a series undergoing a very slow restoration. I have enjoyed chasing DX and the sheer fun of a pile up. My preferred bands are 80m 40m and 20 but working on spending more time on 160, 6 and 2.

Since I travel to Brazil on occasion, I try to get on the air from there. I have used an FT857 and a long wire with reasonable success.

Other hobbies include military trucks and have once owned a unimog. Currently the big truck in the stable is a 1986 Ford C-800 427 with 5spd and 2spd differential.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Ts-930s with Piexx and FT filters including a roofing filter. ALS-600 amp for HF.
Ft-857d or an SB110a for 6 meters. The Yaesu is the rig of choice for mobile or traveling.
Ts-700sp with a 100w brick for 2 meters.

Heathkits: Sb-301/Sb401 combo with Sb-600, Sb610, Sb-630. Sb-101 with Sb-600 & ps, and a homebrew remote vfo under construction.

Antennas: 160=105' tower with gamma match. 80=4 square. 40-10=Pro 96 @ 105' or Kt36xa @ 50'. 6=5 el at 70'. 2=10 el at 74'.

Plans include a k9ay for listening on 160-40.
