Biography

THAT FURIOUS SIGNAL FROM WEST TEXAS, 44 YEARS AND COUNTING!
===================================================================================
WITH MILES OF WIRE AND THOUSANDS OF WATTS, WE ARE THE MIGHTY "KDI" W5KDI, THE ONE,
THE ONLY, A REPEAT OF THE ORIGINAL FLAME THROWER, ENVIED BY MANY, EQUALLED BY NONE!
===================================================================================
Somewhere North of the Rio Grande...

In the Deserts of West Texas....

There's a Rag Chew, Welcome, Waiting....

At a shack called Bienvenido Amigo....

"WELCOME FRIEND!"
==================================================================================
....COME, STAY UP LATE WITH US!
==================================================================================
The big guy in the pic below is my mentor, the original W5KDI, silent key as W5PYT
a GREAT mentor, because he was always learning and teaching, much respect BOB.
==================================================================================
BIG POWER, BIG ANTENNAS, BIG SIGNAL, "FROM WEST TEXAS TO THE WORLD", ONLY AT W5KDI,
LET'S CHAT ON THE AIR, ON DIGI-MODES, OR THE SATS, UNLIKE SOME I AM NOT A COWARD
AND SCARED OF BIG POWER AND BIG SIGNALS SO I DON'T NEED TO HIDE ON DIGI-MODES OR
TINY PARTS OF A FEW TINY BANDS.
===================================================================================
I have 2 stations set up right now, in town, where I spend most of my time,
and our hidden get-away, 12 acres where we can pet and ride horses, and the
dogs run free......life is slower yet more protected.
===================================================================================
Being disabled I spend every day with my wonderful bride of 30 years,
as we plan our retirement and pass the time together.
===================================================================================
unlike some, I learn from the teaching and mistakes of past
mentors on efficiency, resonance, and loss (isn't that what a mentor is for anyway)
in the use of baluns and lossy traps, my signal speaks for itself, always has,
since I was about 13 years old, I didn't have to wait till my 50's to get an education.
===================================================================================

I enjoy a great deal not having any family (Hi Jess!).....
(got sick of 2 faced narcissist thieves in my life and boy was I surrounded by them)
(now they can only stalk and make stupid comments every day)(laugh at him with me)
I don't waste money or time on anything but making that big signal and enjoying my
award-winning Brisket, pork, and Mexican-themed cooking, it's such a better life!

==================================================================================
#### it's easier to insult losers on voice and I do it often, come, join me! ####
==================================================================================

**************************************************************************************************
"How to torture a narcissist" be happy like me, it drives them nuts...how funny...
they can't just live their own life, because "they" are miserable and so are the
folks around them, or they would be with the folks around them, that's why they
have to stalk truly good folks like myself, and only wish they could be decent,
honorable and good...pathetic really..seek mental help...you really need it...
but glad to have the extra traffic...

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

FIRST AND FOREMOST...
I want to thank my benevolent benefactors for everything,
I could never assemble such an awesome station without my girls!
(AND the education from Bob Hohertz, Ed Rosskelly, Tim Ullery and Floyd Phillips)
that all made the mistakes and taught me the right path...

the equipment so far:
in town on 1-1/2 city lots:
Icom IC-7610 (my favorite radio of them all!)
Icom ID-4100 (find me on dstar, ref 30C)
Kenwood TS-2000 (find me on the linear and FM sats)
Ameritron AL-811, slightly modded to take advantage of 3x572's (testing at 750 watts)
Ameritron AL-572
JUST ADDED THE AWESOME Alpha-8410, a manual tune BEAST...yay!!!
RESONANT, FULL SIZE, gain antennas and no baluns or traps are owned here, lossy and won't
hold the power...
covering from 1.8 to 435 MHz on 2x60 foot towers and a few masts, with a counterpoise
"screen" covering most of the property (not a very big lot really)

I do more with a city lot than most, my signal speaks for itself....(yawn)

Country site so far on 12 acres:
Icom IC-7851, great rig but too many buttons...
Icom IC-9700
Alpha-9500
Alpha-77sx
Henry 2004
Henry 2002
antennas for 3.8 to 1296 MHz. (technically I guess from 473 kHz to 1296 MHz)
on 7 telephone poles and a BUNCH of mesquite trees, ha.

I also have stacks of radios and amps from over the years I have collected.
(hope you enjoy a few of the pics, past, and current)
