| Biography Ham radio was my interest since a teen age but I didn't get my VE5KRB call until I retired. It was first VE7KRB for 3 years. Returning to VE5 land I got involved doing contract work for our Provincial research council & NASA at decommissioning & relocating remote met stations. VE5MTC & I found a noise free location in Northern SK. at Little Bear Lake & set up a ham station with a call VE5LBL. A VHF repeater VE5NLR. From that grew a dream of setting the station up for any Hams to use or do serious research. Its now called the Amateur Radio / Physics Research Station. We have a 3 component Flux Gate magnetometer from the Physics Dept. of the U.of S. Now with call sign VA5MG operating an a Auroral Beacon on 50.034 mhz. powered by wind & Solar panels, we can proceed with telemetry systems for data retrieval & other things. VE5UF, VE5NED, VE5ZX & VE5LRB are all contributing to our building of a real interesting set of activities. We look forward to other Hams contributing ideas, plans, activities & fun to this station. We only operate from time to time during summer frost-free months. We hope to set up a Web site for this station in the near future. This will get VE5LRB down off the towers to the computer. More about us later. 73 Ken. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
