Biography

My name is George and I'm active on 2meters and 70cm, analog and DMR. For now I'm not active on HF, but I plan to get a Xiegu G90 and do Flora Fauna and SOTA activations in the summer.

I started as a listener with SDR, and eventually got my license, since owning a radio without one Is illegal here. I never thought I would use the license to talk, but I do it nowadays. I don't have a proper antenna installation on my QTH so I mostly operate mobile and portable, or with temporary antennas.

I also use DMR, through repeaters and my own hotspots. I program all my devices (analog & DMR) by myself, and sometimes enjoy programming even more than using a device.
I try to combine HAM radio with hiking, exploring and Geocaching, and many times operate from SOTA or WWFF locations, although since I don't really care about their rules and there isn't much interest outside HF, I don't participate on those programs. I do like the locations though.

Although I'm generally a "loner" who doesn't find much in common with most other local operators, I occasionally participate and volunteer on the local radio club.
