Biography

Welcome to my website! How it actually was that I was amateur! Something related to amateur radio. Hello, my name is Miguel Ruiz Llamas and I'm from Lorca (Southeast Spain) ... As my name suggests, I am coming from Spain, the South East removed about 80 kilometers from the Mediterranean sea. There I was born in the winter of 1956, so one 48 years ago, almost 49 years ago. But when I moved to Belgium together with the family. In the beginning was the father come emigrate in the Limburg Belgium. The reason there was that to work, the Belgian government asked for miners in the Limburg mines there was a shortage of staff. He stayed here for some time, and when he has come upon us! Being here not everything went smoothly, then we have all kinds of hills and difficult to obtain, lol. One of the greatest difficulties was of course the language! There we a 'Latin' country came so from Spain, a "Germanic" language had to change! That resulted in some difficulties and adaptability was required! Now the day to stay today after 40 years here in Belgium, I can say that I have here fully integrated! Of course one never forgets his roots, where we come! As I said before was for us here in Belgium a major difficulty of the language. Therefore already some Spanish written was read and re-read a book, newspaper etc. At night there was obviously listened to the radio then there were more or less the conditions for listening to Spanish radio. For us young people were not so bad but for my parents who knew nothing of Dutch were a few other sleeves! That was their natural radio very welcome ..

The breakthrough came when a member of staff at work brought a few portable little, for to perform any task that then had indeed raised my curiosity, since once again that one could talk through these things with people who are not there knew! Also, since when were conditions and occasionally to stations of southern Europe were also heard. Soon I was the proud owner of two portabelkes so, at that time was that toys, and soon after the work was laps with the bike with the intention of someone else speak of the family. Great was my joy when I suddenly heard someone who still lived short enough to be around there with that toy stuff! So I was able to come to know through that person that I have a "real" transmitter / receiver could buy that was then in the 'cb' band, the 11 meter band! But the conditions on CB were rather limited, the way it was then allowed to come to that band, silent but still to make a dx! Therefore, to have experimented after several more years at CB, the idea came to officially started, at all costs, lol. After much questioning right and left, I went to a club where I learned that lessons were given in the electronics to later go to the exam in Brussels to get the license! Those lessons in NLB were not so hard, was well explained by the teacher fellow amateur. There were 0.0 begun without taking account of your knowledge of electronics! The course was only halfway through when I went to try my luck there in Brussels, it was exam for ON2 amateurs! ON2 who were only then in force, lol! So anyone who had not passed the previous ON1 exams could go after some time for the ON2. Me it was not so much to make it a success, but to see how it went there in Brussels! After a few weeks the appropriate response BIPT fell into the bus, saying that I passed my ON2 call sign, of course I was very happy with it and was obviously very proud as a peacock with my license! It was then that callsign ON2ADZ but I have not really used a lot ... The stone had started rolling, now I knew what that was more how it works. After 6 months I went back to the ON1 exam weeral with the known result, I was back to my ON1 PASSED! It was then ON1AJZ .... Who does not know me through the packet ??? Hahaha.

But in the VHF and UHF one could not run qso'tje with the homeland, or in packet. So there was nothing else than the "cw" or the telegraph, learn. But that was not laughed hi .. so easy I found that not piepkes and datjes, it all happened so quickly that one got a headache! Then they had to practice every day and practice, practice, otherwise it was zilch! At that time it was necessary to get into the HF bands! Third time lucky, I thought in my own, or three time's a charm, but that was then been noppens! I had not passed my exam cw! That made me so angry and frustrated that I had left the cw for what it was! To my great regret because I had then continued to have done, everything was still fresh in the memory, and who knows after some time to the exam to another try anyway! But that courage I had not, the disappointment was too big! There were still a few years expired, continued with my ON1AJZ call in packet and some repeater. When I heard that the BIPT telegraphy examination was abolished, I hesitated not to write his email adress to the BIPT by a comrade to ask for permission and which was also accepted, hi. So my final callsign was awarded to me that I had requested because ON4ESP (ESP stands for España, Spain in Spanish), hahaha. So tie so a little bit about how I got to ON4ESP am, lol So '73 cuagn Miguel ON4ESP at your service ....
