Biography
I was first licensed as a novice in the late 50's but couldn't master the code. Spent too much time on my 2 meter Gonset, a real museum piece now.
Then in 1980, we lived in So Cal & my wife & I took a class from Gordon West & got involved. We belonged to the West Coast Amateur Radio Club for a few years until we came to Nevada in 1989. I upgraded & got a 7 call. Kathy kept her old call KA6RRR. Unfortunately we forgot to renew it & she lost the call.
In 2004, we moved the Pahrump to help her mom with her embroidery business. Check www.bsembroidery.net for more details. You can see in the photo why we like it here. We get a beautiful view of the backside of Mt. Charleston at 12,000 feet. At 2500 feet we get to look at snow but not having to shovel it!!
I was a draftsman for 20 years, then taught drafting in a trade school for 8 years, then moved to Nevada & taught beginning computers to seniors in local CC until we moved to Pahrump. I still do teaching & repairs when asked. My web site at www.bear-it.com was started to help newbies learn to solve problems. With all the changes, now with Windows 7/8/??? I can't keep up but there are some good basic training ideas like how to cut/copy/paste.

Equipment
I was using a Kenwood TS130S into an MFJ-941D tuner. I was donated a 30 foot tower thanks to N6ISY in So Cal, added a long dipole & started making contacts. Hope to see you on the air.
2017 Update. Now using a Yaesu FT950 and a vertical antenna mounted to a chain link fence. See photos on my QRZ page.
