Biography

Long time but relatively inactive ham, especially since moving to downtown Chicago. Limitation is the ability to have a workable antenna. High Rise condo residence has too much QRM, steel and concrete construction and not enough space to use anything but Alpha Loop in unit. Do use Arrow VHF/UHF for QRP satellite and some Field Day QSO's from rooftop. Can easily work repeaters in 3 states at 500 feet above average terrain. Use K9CYC club station for most HF operation -- it's right next door from my condo. Will do both QRP and 100 watts with WINDOM antenna strung between two masts above a steel boat on Lake Michigan.

Equipment

Yaesu FT-450/D Yaesu FT-817/ND Yaesu VX-8G AnyTone AT-D868UV
Alpha Loop, Buddistick, and Arrow VHF/UHF Satellite

No permanent station but operate portable. Will do some operation on roof of 56 story condominium building. Often operate club station K9CYC at Columbia Yacht Club.
