Biography

NEW:
Our Charly 25 TRX has been updated to Windows 11
It comes now with Core I5 / Core I7, stunning 1TB of SSD and 16GB of Memory. Includes OEM License of W11!
See you all at Ham Radio 2023!

And now just a short intro:
Have build my first radios when I was a kid and consequently building electronic stuff, especially High Frequency related, has become my passion.
I was licensed in 1969, got my first commercial job in the final assembly and testing line for Radio Test sets in a small company (HG Neuwirth in Hannover), so the dream could have continued.
However my move into the IT world and a very, very busy business life later on, has slowed me down and has not allowed for enough time for my hobby...
In the meantime things have changed, so I have started building radios again, first based on analog technology (provided some articles in CQ-DL about my work) and now I focus on some HW development for our OV Project, which is a portabel SDR TRX based on Red Pitaya.
Some QSO`s were done already in 2015 to test the Mosfet PA (20W - 600m to 6m) and the Filter Board for the RX (12 Filters!) has just been finished. We are making good progress and once the whole project is finished the work will be published.

latest Update - All work on the TRX with 7" Display Panel is finished, we have sold many Kits and complete devices meanwhile.

The only thing that stops us at the moment is broken supply chains.... but we will not give up.. :-

PS. my second passion is in sailing... have sailed many thousands of nautical miles, including the atlantic ocean

Equipment

Not much regarding HAM activity , an old semco roto for 2m and finally Charly 25 TRX with 7" screen based on STEMlab16. Output 20W but will add more power once PA is ready.

An end-fed inverted V Antenna (43 meter all together)is used for testing. Antenna is working from 80m to 10m.

To compensate for the lack of commercial Amateur Radio Equipment I have a long list of measurement stuff in my shack (Spectum Analysers, Generators, Power Meters etc.)everything required to develop High Frequency stuff.

When I find time to clean my shack and make a picture I will load it up... hi

Hi All, have just deleted all the history to make some space for an update.

First of all : if you want to meet us we are at the Amateurfunk Tagung in Munich on the 11th and 12th of march and of course we will be in Friedrichshafen this ýear.

So here comes a little status update:

Boards available for homebrewers:
- STEMlab SDR Version STEMlab 16
- C25 Mainboard compatible with both STEMlab14 and STEMlab 16
- latest version of C25 CODEC Board
- C25 High Performance 11Band Preselector
- Mechanical Kit for those who don't want to build their own
- W10 PC board with Core I5 100x100mm fits nicely into the STEMlab Chassis
- the RADIOlab backpanel has been updated to include HDMI and USB connections
- complete pre-configured RADIOlabs are also available

Work on the TRX with 7" Midi Frontpanel is finished, it is available on request (still some problems with parts availability in the industry)
The Midi compatible Frontpanel can be used with any project together with Power SDR or HPSDR SW.Frontpanel is working with Thetis as well.

Our SW genius Markus DG8MG has also developed a Thetis version for STEMlab which is compatible with all our HW.

Things to come:

Update on the Power Amplifier Module
This works very well now, we will promote it as 250W Module because we want it to be extremely reliable - has been stress tested in the lab with 420W PEP so lots of headroom...
The module works well in a stunning range of 472KHz to 160MHz!!!

This has been achieved by a new architecture which has taken us 3 years of work (no copy and paste from all the standard modules available in the Amateur Radio market)
The same architecture will be used for the 600W module and we plan (and hope) to achieve the same stunning Bandwidth.
Will be the first Amateur Radio PA to work with 72 Volts using the latest available Transistor technology from ST-Microelectronics (not used in the Amateur Market currently because these semiconductors are primarily focused on industry, scientific and military applications with a maximum Drain Voltage of 250V - pretty hard to find somewhere but we got some samples).

Transverters
- some work has been started already - plan is to cover all bands from 4m to 13cm including Es'hail TRX capability

Thats it - if you have any questions don't hessitate to send us an e-mail :

Stay save and healthy!
