| Biography Hello, Thank you for stopping here. I've been a ham since 1977 (WD9CVD), special thanks to my high School Radio Club WB9TDX, my instructor WB9QII (SK) and my life long friend Jeff K9YR. Have moved several times in my life having built and then rebuilt my stations. Life has it's curve balls. Moved to a Genesee, WI in 2023 and started building this station, My permit for he towers read an 80 and 1000 foot tower. That's not a typo. At least on my part! Don't expect to reach those heights but it is a nice selling feature. First tower was raised in November 23. I am looking to populate it with VHF and above antennas this Spring (2024). HF antenna
tower is planned and with a little help may go up this Summer. My tower climbing days are over aside form minor things, I shouldn't be doing.
The station is a mix of Flex, Yaesu and Icom gear. 6600M, PGXL, and the TGXL. I run the FTDX101MP on the second input of the TGXL. I run Q5 transverters for 2,222, and 432 with an 8877 and a G35 amplifier for 2 and 432. An Icom 9700 has satellite and 1296 duties.
I am hoping to resume some EME activities I had in the 80's. The array will be smaller, but the demands are less these days with digital. Listening on MS, its surprising what you can hear with a simple dipole on six meters. Looking forward to making contact there soon.
I play on FT8 and enjoy it. However, I am concerned it is replacing people actually talking to one another. There is a brotherhood to this hobby, and I believe that it will be lost if we do not pick up a microphone or tap a key. So I encourage all of you todo that, beyond the click DX fix from FT8.
I will be happy to exchange QSL cards. To me its an old tradition that should remain. Thank you again for stopping on my page and reading the bio. I hope we have several QSO's while enjoying our hobby.
