Biography
On air, I go by "Eli."
I have been licensed since 1960. My novice call in New York was WV2VFU (later WA2VFU). I ran a DX-20 and a Hammarlund HQ-110 in my early radio days, and later "graduated" to a Drake 2B an NC-300, and a Mosley TA-33. My elmer was Josh, K2MMS. His call is now N7XM and he operates an awesome station in Dayton, NV. We have been friends since childhood. I owe him especially for my love of CW and DX.
After a move to California as a young adult, and a long career without much opportunity to pursue my interests in ham radio, I now have more time.
I operate almost exclusively CW, with a bit of digital every so often.
Awards include: DXCC Honor Roll, 8-Band DXCC, 5-Band WAZ, 5-Band WAS, WAS Triple Play, IOTA Honor Roll, and IOTA 850.
Memberships include: NCDXC (Northern California DX Club), NCCC (Northern California Contest Club), and CWOps.
These days my station is an Icom-7610; an ACOM-1000 amp; a very slick Mercury IIIS solid state amp by KM3KM; an Optibeam Wire Yagi for 20-10 meters; N6BT 40M vertical mono bander; various wire antennas for the low bands; HRD; and of course my trusty Begali Signature.
