Biography

Moved to Cherokee (city limits) in 2012 (EM64as) from Allsboro (EM54wq). Had a lot of fun in Allsboro especially 50-432 MHz. Had VUCC on 50, 144 and 432. Was working on VUCC on 222. Didn't do a lot of HF at that location. Used to be one of the Net Controls for the Midsouth Two Meter Sideband Net on 144.260 MHz nightly. Had a lot of fun making contacts with that. Had worked 44 states on 144 MHz (due in large part to the 2001 Leonids MS). Worked Washington state in 2000 on 144 MHz SSB Eskip. Two stations. Heard part of an Oregon stations, but never made the contact. Worked Japan for my best contact on 50 MHz. Worked 12 Alaskan stations and heard Hiwaii twice, but never got through the pileup (on 50 MHz). Worked Canada, Mexico and Cayman Islands for 3 countries on 144 MHz.

Since moving to Cherokee, I've setup my home station with a lot of interest on digital modes, primarily FT8 and FT4. My station is small with small antennas, but I'm having a blast working grids and countries with 100 watts or less.

Equipment

HF/VHF/UHF: IC-706, TS-570S, IC-756, IC-7100, ID-5100, DEMI 222 Trans.

Antennas: 80m-10m = 40m Inverted V Dipole.
20m-10m = Hygain AV-620 Vertical.
6m = Cushcraft 5 element @ 21'.
2m = Cushcraft 10 element @ 17'.
1.25m = Cushcraft 7 element @ 19'.
70cm = Cushcraft 10 element (2m yagi) @ 17'.
2m = Cushcraft AR2 Vertical @ 13'.

Yes, I know...the antenna heights look pitiful. I do plan to put up a tower soon. I also have a yagi (dedicated) for 70cm that I will put up there. I'll probably upgrade the 1.25m antenna with more elements too.

Thanks for reading this. I hope to work you soon. God Bless es 73. de Jeff KU4WW
