Biography

BS in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years in Information Technology, broadcast infrastructure, live and post-production workflows, global live streaming.

I've always been interested in electricity. It led me to experiment with current at a young age, leading me to school and applications in my current job role. Master the basics of electricity and nothing will surprise you in Information Technology, InfoSec, Communications, the list goes on.

I construct and test my own cables, custom analog and digital circuits.

Project History:

(2020) Refurbished a self supporting aluminum tower by rewelding and replacing sections of pipe. 32' once completed! A few months later a K4KIO Hex Beam and G450A rotator were added. I had to fabricate a custom G450 plate to fit within the tower structure. Works great!

(2021) To diversify the two homeruns of LMR-900, I created a CAN-controlled microwave switch (0-12GHz, 100W CW). Station-side is a desktop enclosure, controller and interconnect. Tower side is a modified Dowkey 6pos RF relay housed in a weatherproof enclosure with a milled thruplate and Huber-Suhner Lighting arrestors (all self-built and sourced.) The system works GREAT, with plans to add a station-side RF relay and extend control to small desktop app or local web service.

(2022) Added the Flex 6500.

(2023) Adding a Cubesat tracking tower, G5500 and M2 LEO Pack. Will be repurposing leftovers from the aluminum tower, building a custom top-plate. Will need to pull 18-12 wire to the shack for the dual controllers.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

FT-897D for 2m/70cm, backup HF.
Flex 6500 primary for HF.

Both units are powered by a self made Lithium Iron Phosphate battery (1200 Wh), capable of supporting 100A for an hour or FT8 for several days. :)

HF Tower is a 32’ hex beam from K4KIO with ice cords. 2m/70cm is a Comet CX-333.
