Biography

I was licensed in June 1978 as KA2AOT, after passing my Novice exam. I was an Extra class by the mid 80s. I received my K2JL call in 1996. I've always loved CW and it's been my main mode of operation. With the advent of FT8, along with the declining band condx, I operate that mode quite a bit these days. I was off the air in recent years due to losing my antennas to wind, snow and ice. I returned to the hobby in October 2017 after erecting a DX Engineering 43' vertical. Having good luck with that, and working about 200 DXCC in 6 months, I hoisted a Carolina Windom 40, then later EDZ wire antennas for 30m, 20m, 17m and 15m. This has made a more complete and flexible setup for DXing. Hope to meet you on the bands!

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Kenwood TS-59OSG Anniversary Edition
K4KIO Hexbeam at 28'
Homebrew Extended Double Zepps for 20m and 30m
Carolina Windom 40
