Radio club Slovenj Gradec S59DCD proudly announces a World Wide Peace Messenger City (WW PMC) HF Contest, dedicated to a Nobel idea of International Association of Peace Messenger Cities. The idea is to promote contacts between stations which are citizens of the Peace Messenger Cities and the rest of the world.

Slovenj Gradec is a town of 17,000 inhabitants, located in the northern part of Slovenia. On the ruins of Roman settlement medieval Slovenj Gradec was built until 11th century, in 1267 it was first mentioned with its city rights. The town is best known for its leather goods; other industries include automotive parts, wood, food and metals. Many important historical monuments are in the city, among them Church of St. Elisabeth from 1251 and Church of the Holy Spirit from 1417. In 1860, the composer Hugo Wolf was born in Slovenj Gradec. Slovenj Gradec was designated a Peace Messenger City in 1989. The town has organized many events devoted to Peace and international understanding since 1966, when the first international art competition was organized.
