Biography
Hiyah!
I'm Sarah Cartwright. Born way back in '77. I'm to be found in the UK, Chester. I love electronics and RF in general.
I like making and tweaking antenna, and trying to get around the restrictions of my rented location!
I feel kind of bad (hm, ok - not really) for pinching "OSX" as my callsign, I'm surprised no Apple fan had claimed it before! Surprisingly I was trying random letters, and only realised when it said "available" that it was the old name for Apple's Mac OS. =)
I was surprised that no Apple fan ever claimed "OSX"... ironically I've never used one. It just sounds kinda cool, and techy too - and I do like messing around with computers.
I've got stuff on several websites - if our interests overlap, have a look, say Hi!
https://www.thingiverse.com/sarahc_/designs : Some 3D printables I've made. AMScope microscope camera stand-offs, to ancient Pyramid maker.
https://sketchfab.com/SarahC : I had fun painting some 3D printable models with Adobe Substance painter. (virtual!)
https://github.com/Sarah-C : Here's my embedded systems programs, M5Stack, ESP32, ATTiny, F2013..etc...
https://codepen.io/SarahC/ : I love JavaScript animations and interactive stuff. Everything from photo DOF calcs, to FFT Audio charts.
https://www.youtube.com/user/SarahC2/videos : A random selection of videos of things I've made... robot arms, to Blender animations.
https://untamed.zone : A VERY retro "Hey I made a personal webpage" circa 1995. It has a couple of useful tools, like "Make this monitor black" (great for video watching!)
Equipment
I've got several Baofeng's and a new RT95 little base station, and below are several things I've collected for my RF experiments:
Base Stations...
- Retevis RT95 - a little 2m / 70cm radio
- Baofeng UV-5R
- Baofeng UV-5RH Pro Max (Not an actual Baofeng model name!)
Antenna...
- 2m Slim Jim ( https://www.hamgoodies.co.uk/slimjim-built beautifully pre-tuned )
- Several whip's (Na-771, and a couple of fakes!)
- A couple of telescopic 2m/70cm
- Two funny ("mobile") foldable long "Military 2m antenna"
- A "Positive V" 7 meter whip HF antenna,
- A random wire 9:1 balun combo.
- A home made 2m/70cm di-pole with a little 3D printed holder.
- Moonraker Skyscan Scanner Antenna, 25 MHz - 2 GHz
Tools...
- Nano VNA
- TinySA Ultra
- SW33+ VHF / UHF 125-525 MHz SWR checker
- 25W 40dB Attenuator
- 2W 30dB x 3 Attenuators
- USB to Baofeng programmer
SDR Filters and things...
- RTL-SDR Blog V4
- HT004 - 20dB gain, 100 KHz - 6 GHz
- LaNA Barebones, 20dB gain, 50 KHz - 150 MHz
- NooElec LaNA, 20dB gain, 20 MHz - 4 GHz
- Flamingo FM - Broadcast FM Bandstop Filter
Software...
- Chirp for programming the Baofengs
- SDR Sharp for SDR radio
- welle.io DAB Radio
- PDW V3.12 for reading local Pagers
- RTL1090 Aeroplane tracking (Reads aircraft transducer TX)
- Virtual Radar (connected to RTL1090 shows map of local aeroplanes)
I hope to get a proper rig after enough saving, and an antenna tuner built in! (Transmitting from railings / building I beams sounds fun.)
